And we’re off!

For two years I prayed for a job that had purpose and served God, but never in a million years did I think the job that God was preparing me for would be with Youth for Christ. Only a couple weeks in and this opportunity has already blown me out of the water; God certainly works in mysterious ways! If you haven’t heard, my new role with Youth for Christ Canada’s Global Engagement Team is as the Engage! Program Coordinator (find out more about this program below!).

This month I have had the opportunity to mentor junior high and high school students from my church on retreats, greet individuals from Lebanon, Tanzania, Russia, and Belgium as they came to Canada for training (these guys are SO fun), meet inspiring team members across Canada, and learn about the five current participants in the Engage! Program.

God has also proven (once again) that He is faithful to those who are obedient to Him and I have seen almost 1/5 of my funding come through in my first three weeks as well as some super generous one time gifts (click here to GIVEnow!). Thank you so much for your support and prayers – you are in this adventure with me!

WHAT I’M UP TO NOW:

From May 21st until May 31st I get to hang out with four international YFC staff as they participate in YFC Canada’s Summer Institute Training Conference at Redeemer University in Hamilton, Ontario; Esther from Belgium, Pascal from Tanzania, Vladimir from Russia, and Wael from Lebanon. We have all become fast friends, learning from each other and laughing a lot! They will be joined by 43 new YFC staff from across the country who will also be participating in the YFC Training Conference.

It is so inspiring to hear stories of their countries, their life with Jesus, and their YFC ministries. Join my YFC Information night on June 1st (information above) to hear more stories about YFC around the world orlet’s get coffee (or chat on the phone if you live out of the area!) and I’ll share their stories with you myself!

LEFT TO RIGHT: Vladimir (Russia), Esther (Belgium), me, Wael (Lebanon), Daryl (Canada – Director of Global Engagement), and Pascal (Tanzania) in downtown Toronto earlier this week.

What is Youth for Christ?
Youth for Christ is an international organization made up of 550 local ministry centers, with 36,000 staff, in 133 nations (see all those countries here!).

Youth for Christ seeks to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who are characterised by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to prayer, boldness in evangelism and commitment to social involvement.

Youth for Christ’s vision is to see that every young person in every people group in every nation has the opportunity to make an informed decision to be a follower of Jesus Christ and become part of a local church.

What is “Engage!”?
Engage! is YFC Canada’s International Volunteer Program for young people ages 18-28. We are committed to enable, train, mentor, and support young volunteers from Canada to serve with our YFC family internationally. We also help young people from all over the globe find a YFC ministry to serve with in Canada. My new role with YFC Canada is to lead this program; I would love your prayers.

Currently we have young missionaries serving in or preparing to serve in:

  • Czech Republic
  • United Kingdom
  • Lebanon
  • El Salvador
  • Canada
